Great! The reason why Blackberry usage was dominant before was because of their security. The approval of Android phones for military use just means that the security of Android has reached the level that Blackberry used to have or even more!

I think there are some custom roms that allow update to higher versions of Android although it won’t be too stable. Also, there should be a rom that’s close to the original stock Google ROM but the problem with that is you might need to root it first and that just voids your warranty.

I don’t think there’ll be any change. As for the problems with China phones, I know it can be frustrating but some companies are taking these phones, rebranding them and as far as I know, have also included what one expects from a regular Android smartphone. Mine has Google Play and it’s working fine. The only downside to it is it’s probably not as tough as the more popular phones but I think they’re also working on it.

I heard that China made tablets cannot be repaired when they are broken due to lack of tech-support in the different countries where they are sold. Is this true? I also heard that the batteries cannot be replaced when they are old. I am considering getting a China tablet but I am afraid that although it is inexpensive, it might not last very long and I might have a hard time finding somebody to fix it. If there is anybody here who can tell me that fixing it would be no problem please comment.

It depends where you bought it from. I myself bought my rebranded China tablet from a reputable distributor and they do offer warranties with every purchase. For others, I think it might be next to impossible.

Yeah, it would be good if they both work together. China’s a big market and hopefully, Google would just work with Alibaba, although I’m not sure how it’s going to be. As stated somewhere, Alibaba’s Aliyun has pirated apps, so that’s one roadblock.

I don’t have it but if it can play something like Iron Man 3 without any hiccups, it’s a definite buy for me. Although some reviews complain about its Wi-Fi capabilities, and one in Amazon complained that it’s in Chinese, it could be just okay for its price. I

Oh, just a clarification. Ticking Unknown Sources isn’t really all about installing pirated applications. There are some apps that are legit but do not go through Google Play for some other reason (again, not necessarily due to piracy), such as the Humble Bundle Android games and some browser updates.

It doesn’t really sound good that Aliyun supposedly has pirated apps. I’ve read on Engadget though that even though Google wouldn’t be working with Aliyun, they have extended an offer of support to the latter if only they would make the move to be fully compatible with Android.

Rooting voids your warranty. If you can unroot it, it would undo the rooting and you can take advantage of your warranty again. Just a warning, in case your phone is still in warranty.

You can use any tablet, I think. Probably would be good to have around 1 GB RAM. I have a Cherry Mobile Fusion Bolt which is just a rebranded China tablet and it works well. If you want an office suite you can use with it, I’d suggest KingSoft Office which is free. Whatever tablet you choose, even the high end ones, be aware that it won’t give you the desktop experience.
