Participantey sorry, I changed my text now. The ROOT part is not only for MTK phones, also other devices. Here is alephzains list of supported devices:
You also may try it on others, the worst there can happen is that it just says root failed, and not rooting the device. But then you at least have tried.

ParticipantThis is your default camera located on the back of your device under the main screen. If you are experiencing problems such as a fuzzy image or lines through your pictures, you may need to replace your lens instead of your camera. If your pictures look distorted while viewing on your device, but after sending them through an email or download are clear, your screen has gone bad not the camera. If you are having any other problem with your camera, then this is the part you need.

ParticipantRooting is the Android equivalent of jailbreaking, a means of unlocking the operating system so you can install unapproved (by Google) apps, update the OS, replace the firmware, overclock (or underclock) the processor, customize just about anything, and so on.
Of course, for the average user, rooting sounds like — and can be — a scary process. After all, “rooting” around in your smartphone’s core software might seem like a recipe for disaster. One wrong move and you could end up with bricked handset.
