ROM flashing tutorial for MTK chipset phones

    1. Download and extract the SP Flash Tool and Mediatek USB VCOM drivers from here:

    2. Install the driver if not already installed (you may need to enable usb debugging mode from settings > developer options

    3. Download and extract your ROM package and find the scatter.txt file.

    4. Run Flash_tool.exe then click Scatter-loading button to load the correct scatter file (MT6575_Android_scatter_emmc.txt or MT6577_Android_scatter_emmc.txt, or scatter.txt depending on which phone you have and the downloaded ROM) for your device and ignore any message that may appear.

    5. Turn off your phone, remove the battery and replace it after some seconds (and don’t turn on the phone).

    6. Press F9 (or hit Download button) and connect your phone into the computer via USB data cable. The process will start and a red progress bar will appear.

    7. After the red progress bar is complete, there will appear a purple progress bar.

    8. Right after the purple progress bar is complete, a message will appear underneath it:
    “Please insert USB cable in x seconds” and then the download will start right away (you will see the yellow progress bar filling up).

    9. When the yellow bar is complete, you’ll get a popup with a green circle and Download OK message, which means that the process has been successfully terminated.

    10. You can now safely disconnect your phone and turn it on. The process ends here.

    DO I need to uninstall all ADB Interface drivers before I in stall USB VCOM drivers?

    No. ADB Interface drivers are for rooting or connecting the phone to the PC while phone is ON, USB VCOM drivers are for flashing and works only when the PHONE is OFF.

    Hi im new in root and flash
    i download a scatter file from internet but when i open in flash tool it is all in 0x0000000 and location bar is empty what should i do?
    i have to say also my phone is gaophone and s3/y1 ztc which on the phone it is written samsung.
    i want to root it and customize it but no app helped me
    please help

    Scatter.txt file comes with the ROM files. You cannot use just any scatter file downloaded from internet. You can easily brick your phone if you do. First, you need to find a ROM file for your phone.

    that attachement is my scatter file i made it by droid tool and as you can see when i press the red back button nothing happens inorder to make rom, it just saying searching, both when my phone is off / on / and also in recovery mode .
    when i enter recovery mode android logo comes with ! mark, now what?
    where is my mistake?
    please help

    Two things:
    – Your recovery is not working.
    – This tutorial is for ROM flashing. Not for ROM backup. For backup, you need to follow other tutorials.

    You can try to find a ROM for your device. It will come with it’s own scatter file. When you open that scatter file in SP flash tool, you will see that location will not be empty.

    i know this is time consuming for you but please take a look at this to file these are the only info i could take out from my phone also i don’t know the manufacture it’s unknown but the thing is i want to root this phone so i need i think rom to replace and use it in droid tool to root.
    can you help me to root this thing?

    I did everything you said, including downloading specific ROM for my phone. Now I only get small red LED light and phone wont start. Help?
