I used to use one but switched to a beautiful patterned picture for the battery benefits. I don’t find myself looking at the home screen a lot anyway so it was really a waste.

Not always. You should always do some research and try to read as many reviews as you can. Sometimes the cheaper option offers the best value for money but at other times it is worth spending the extra money for a better quality item. A cheaper product probably means that it’s not as good as an expensive product, but it doesn’t mean that it’s no good at all. This is where research comes in.

I think that Android is a better operating system, though Apple clearly has an edge due to the size of the App store ecosystem it has built up over the past few years. Although I guess you could say that despite Apple having a greater number of apps, the Android Marketplace has a greater variety because there are a lot of things (mainly to do with customization) that Android apps allow you to do that Apple just flat out won’t let you touch.

Yeah, I think you should provide us with some more information before you go ahead and potentially brick your phone. What do you want to root it for? Perhaps there’s a way to accomplish a similar outcome without taking as many risks with your phone.

I’d hardly consider myself a beginner to Android but there were a few tips in here that I haven’t seen before (I had never used DLNA). Thanks for the link!

I agree with umit, if that’s all you want to use rooting for then you’re probably wasting your time. For me, rooting is all about customization, and being able to get my phone to a state in which I’m happy with it involves using some apps I can’t use without having rooted my phone first.

Interesting read. I use Dolphin as well, but keep it updated and have installed mobile anti-virus software and I haven’t noticed any viruses/problems yet. I’ll definitely consider being more careful about the types of sites I visit from now on, because mobile security definitely isn’t advanced as the desktop counterpoint, and it lacks the sort of intensive cleaning apps like ADW.
