For an update for my Star B92M (apparently the 2013 version, sorry forgot build num).

MOKHD ‘s post on forum.xda-developers (the alternate method posted) worked to root and flash a new rom with everything working. wifi, dual sim, 3g data.

Sorry not allowed post direct hyperlink.

With the one negative is that the rom posted to flash has small partitions (512MB) and my phones internal space is 4GB (so i think i had a ~2GB partition before) so now I’m stuck with it until I figure out how to repartition or someone posts the same rom with more space.

But it works, might have to link stuff to the external sd card as 512MB runs out quick for apps.

    Hope it helps

Hey, thanks for posting. Just to contribute…
Tested this on my MTK6577 STAR B92 android 4.1.2 but sadly it didn’t work.

Tried it a few times (using normal mode). First time it hung, second time it brought up the restore screen on the phone but the phone didn’t restart. Third time, the restore screen came up and the phone restarted but no root access when it booted back up.

The script looked like it ran without problems with only one error in the process “mount: permission denied (are you root?)”

Will keep an eye out for developments
    Cheers
