I have now found the ROM that the phone came with but it appears to be a custom one anyway http:// www .needrom.com/ mobile/bluebo-b9500/

How do I go about it?

It can be recovered by flashing the official or working ROM. Finding official or working ROM may be the hardest part of the process. Check http://www.needrom.com if the manufacturer site does not provide ROMs.

Thanks for confirming that not all hope is lost!

This is the problem I’m having, my OH had an idea that it might be possible to do that but we have no idea what the actual manufacturer is! Because it comes with all the samsung logo etc on it there doesn’t seem to be any indication of what it really is.
The only info I have is this:
    MTK 6589

    Android OS version – 4.2.9

    Version – JDQ39-I9500ZSUAMDF

    Kernal Version – 3.4.5-447903 se.infra@SEP-92) ) #1SMP PREEMPT Fri May 24 19:11:35 CST 2013

    Baseband Version – Moly.WR8.W1248.MD.WG.MP 2013/05/08 11:19

    CPU Model- ARMv7 Processor rev 2 (v71)

    CPU Manufacturers: UNIVERSAL5410

None of this means anything to me so I’m not sure how to go about figuring it out.
