There has been a lot of discussion online regarding the W8 power button not being able to turn the phone on from it’s sleep mode. I am familiar with this issue as my phone developed the problem several months after activating it and to me it’s strange the way it happened.

Purchased my phone in June and had no problem with the power button until I left Guam and returned to my home in the Philippines. Power button became an issue when I changed SIM cards from the Guam provider to the Philippine service provider. It became a real problem, almost every time when I tried to use the phone; hold power button down for a good 20 seconds for the phone to reboot and go through it’s cycle. Some times the battery had to be removed to get the phone to reboot. Having to do either of the two methods is and can be very annoying to say the least.

I live out of a large city in the country and wanted to see which of the two providers had the better service/signal for my area and added a SIM card for provider #2 and just like magic the power button issue disappeared.

What does changing SIM cards have to do wit the problem? I have no idea but I am going to leave both cards in place, “If it ain’t broke don’t fix it”…Maybe this will work for others and it’s a cheap fix……..
