There’s a “CopyCat App” that is identified as “a.frau.longjian.a” and appears to Android users as an update of the popular NetDragon 91 Assistant app. If you download this update, it will download repackaged apps that would hide in the background and use up your data.

How does it use up your data? It will automatically subscribe you to paid SMS services which would rack up the phone bills. It also breaches your security by sending sensitive and personal information of your phone such as IMEI and other phone details, numbers and app usage. More info on this fraudware is available here.

I don’t usually have an antivirus on but this would be a good reason why. There’s not really much chance for me to get the update but it can be scary if I get careless just once.

Buy a mobile phone but watch your screen resolution and the appearance, see what is needed to discern the stand or fall of machines

I haven’t used others. So I don’t know a better one exists. I am using Avast free edition. It has a firewall, so I let only the programs I select can connect to the internet with wireless or 2G/3G.

Is this a virus? I mean can you hide that notification by an Anti Virus?
Who ever did this, what’s their benefit of it. Hacking someone’s phone is terrible thing to do, if it automatically subscribe to my paid SMS services, Can’t i contact my services and tell them about it.
I’m really afraid that i might get hack that way or in any similar way, is there any recommendation for an Anti Virus?

It is activities like these that makes me reluctant to download updates on my Android phone. I only download apps from the google play store or apps that have been verified by many users as working. I recommend persons to install the latest anti-virus software on their devices to help protect it.
