i bought a HDC Galaxy S4 U9500- MTK6589 and inserted my vodafone sim , i can make calls etc but it wont connect to the internet without the wifi , its running android 4.2.2 will rooting it solve this problem?

also under mobile network state its says disconnected.

Rooting will not help. Have you checked APN settings?

in order to acces internet through your vodafone sim card you have to have a APN for vodafone
search for apn vodafone android and you will find a howto to edit the APN

Can you make the backup and stock this on MEGA (for example)

You can also call Vodafone to have a customer service agent walk you through editing the APN so you can make use of your sim for the internet.
