A leaked China Unicom document confirms the release of 2 Xiaomi phones on April 9th. An updated Xiaomi Mi2 called the M2s and new entry-level Xiaomi M2s.
It’s been hard to keep up with Xiaomi rumours over the past month as details continue to conflict. The latest reports however do seem to make a lot more sense than what we have previously heard.
Apparently Xiaomi will be launching 2 new phones at the Miui V5 festival on 9th April. An updated version of the current Xiaomi Mi2 and a new entry-level machine called the M2s.
The release dates are confirmed by a leaked document from China Unicom which lists the dates and prices of both phones. What it doesn’t list though are the specs, but sources close to Xiaomi claim to know what they are.
The M2S will look physically identical to the current Mi2, but will receive a bump in performance thanks to are more powerful 1.7Ghz quad-core Snapdragon 600 CPU. The M2a will replace the current M1s and is said to get a larger 4.46-inch display and 1.7Ghz dual-core Qualcomm CPU.
Like the phones they replace, both Xiaomi phones will be priced competitively with the M2s said to cost just 1999 Yuan ($320) and the M2a 1499 Yuan ($241).
