Data from May to August of this year show subscriber gains for Apple (1.5%) and Samsung (1.3%) while HTC and Motorola show losses at 1.3% and 0.9% respectively, comScore says (http://thenextweb.com/mobile/2013/10/04/comscore-apple-takes-40-7-share-as-top-us-smartphone-maker-samsung-gains-too-android-back-to-losing-share/).

Software side, Google is king although it looks like Apple’s efforts to take back the crown is working and the numbers show it. Do you think the iOS would topple Android over in the near future?

That’s weird. Almost everybody that I’ve come across with online like Android better. If you would notice the apple ios forums are much quiet than the android forums. I really think that it is strange news. It’s like ios against the world. ios runs on ne phone while everybody else is using android and a few windows 8.

Android’s still the top mobile OS. The thing about Android though is that it’s not being used by just one smartphone manufacturing company. So when sales are reported among smartphone companies, Android is divided into Samsung, HTC, Motorola and all the other Android phone manufacturers, it’s not surprising that Apple can get to the top with Samsung slacking a bit on sales. Anyways, this is just in America. :)

It’s true that Apple’s IOS is by far the most popular operating system. However, I do notice that more and more people are migrating towards Android OS for better customizations and features. I do think Android OS is getting popular because there are more App from Google Play than the Apple App Store.

If I recall the iPhone 5S and 5C weren’t released in August, pretty interesting to see what the updated figures will be including them. How did Sony go? Most of their stuff is Android and they seem to be getting more popular all the time.

I really call out for Android. Android users are more than IOS, but in the US a lot of people have an Iphone, Ipad, Ipod etc. but overall Android devices are way much better and cheaper, people buy IOS devices just to show people that they have a lot of money.

Everywhere I go I seem to see an iPhone, and very rarely come across an Android device apart from the Samsung range. And even those aren’t in big numbers. I think Google needs to step its game up if it wants to keep the Android OS going strong. The handsets are great, but I honestly think the Android OS has more potential in other things, like TV’s and gadgets.

The iOS may topple Android but not in the near future. I don’t see that happening just yet but with the constant advancements in technology, no one really knows. Apple is a company that thrives off innovation and their reputation of being the premier host of the latest in Ipads, Ipods, Tablets and more. I can see increase gains for Apple and although Google is the “king” for now, I can’t see them on top for long. Call it my intuition but I feel Apple has the edge because they are more hungry for the spot of being the ultimate representation of technology’s best company.

Apple’s dominance is only true in the US markets. Android is a bigger OS worldwide. The fact that IOS does well in the US doesn’t mean it is preferred internationally. The day that Apple looses its US market will be the day the company is ruined.
