MemberFirst of all sorry if this is in the wrong place but I wasn’t sure where to put it.
I bought a Samsung Galaxy S4 clone, specifically this one: http:// www .aliexpress.com/snapshot /238037422.html
My partner rooted it which was absolutely fine but I insisted on him then flashing a custom rom onto it. I’m not going to lie I had no idea what this involved, what the risks were or even why I wanted him to do it.
Anyway during the installation of the new rom seemed to be going fine and he’s pretty sure it did finish installing but then it just died. The phone had full battery at the time. Since then we cannot get it to turn on. We’ve tried another battery but it just doesn’t power up. It also won’t charge now.
However when plugged into the PC it comes up as an unknown device, so I’m hoping the fact it’s still recognised as something means there may be some hope left.
I’m sorry if I’ve left a load of information out, I’m not really sure how to word it. I have no idea what I’m doing, I am just sat here with my lovely new phone not turning on

Edit: I’ve now found that the ROM it came with was bluebo b9500 which appears to be a custom ROM anyway

MemberIt can be recovered by flashing the official or working ROM. Finding official or working ROM may be the hardest part of the process. Check http://www.needrom.com if the manufacturer site does not provide ROMs.

This is the problem I’m having, my OH had an idea that it might be possible to do that but we have no idea what the actual manufacturer is! Because it comes with all the samsung logo etc on it there doesn’t seem to be any indication of what it really is.
The only info I have is this:
MTK 6589Android OS version – 4.2.9
Version – JDQ39-I9500ZSUAMDF
Kernal Version – 3.4.5-447903 se.infra@SEP-92) ) #1SMP PREEMPT Fri May 24 19:11:35 CST 2013
Baseband Version – Moly.WR8.W1248.MD.WG.MP 2013/05/08 11:19
CPU Model- ARMv7 Processor rev 2 (v71)
CPU Manufacturers: UNIVERSAL5410
None of this means anything to me so I’m not sure how to go about figuring it out.

How do I go about it?

MemberIf you think that is the original ROM, then go ahead and flash it. You have nothing to loose at this moment.

First you need to flash the ROM which you have found. The link on how to flash MT657X is in the tutorial section of needrom. If you are new to this sort of thing, get someone who is able to do this for you.
After a successful flash, you need to ROOT your device. The method is rather simple as there are numerous Rooting utility all over the net. You might try motochopper – google it.
Good Luck.
