Here’s a graphical look at the Android Versions available in the market. This can tell you if the device you’re buying has the latest version.

Rule of thumb, Froyo is fine.

So is Donut, many of my friends own Xperias which runs Donut and they have no complaints whatsoever. Well one says that games have a tendency to lag, but I suspect that has more to do with hardware limitations rather than with the O.S. version.

Donut doesnt have Flash support. Plus the hardware isnt going to be compatible with any upgrade so they’re pretty stuck with Donut with the phone.

Flash is on the way out, you can thank Apple for that one. Also to the best of my knowledge you can’t really upgrade the software on most phones. Even if you could, the only ones that I heard of benefiting from this are the ones that upgraded from 2.1 to 2.2.

I definitely prefer donut. It’s superior to the other versions.

Jelly Beans is missing in that graph; I haven’t used it, but I’ve read reviews and most said it works pretty good on both tablets and phones.

Personally, Gingerbread is my favorite. Stable and easier to use than other versions.

I’m a Jelly Bean user. So far, my experience with it has been good. My phone has been working softly since I bought it.

Currently using Froyo on my Samsung Galaxy Q, and it does everything it needs. Maybe when I get the money again I’ll get the high0-end ice cream phone.

Hi macpdiaz! There’s a new version now and current Android Devices being sold in the market today are now on Android 4.0 or Ice Cream Sandwich, and some on Android Jelly Bean.
