Huawei P9 Lite Announced With Kirin 650

After yesterday’s big announcement of its two new flagships, The Huawei P9 and P9 Plus, the company has silently announced today the small sibling of the two, the Huawei P9 Lite to compete with the other Chinese manufacturers in the low-budget category.

The device was announced in Russia, and, even if neither price nor availability were announced, reports indicate that the phone may be launched in Russia in June and will be offered in two colors – Gold and Silver. Of course, price and availability aren’t the only parts missing. Absent is the dual-lens setup on the back as well.

Other than that, the rest of the specs are not to be ignored at all. As a matter of fact, we are looking at an almost identical Huawei P8, last year’s flagship. So, it comes with a 5.2″ 1080p IPS display, powered by the midrange Kirin 650 octa-core SoC, 16GB of expandable (via microSD) up to 128GB storage and 2GB/3GB RAM. The rear shooter will be a 13MP camera with LED flash (no OIS though) and an 8MP on the front.

Luckily, it comes with Android 6 (Marshmallow) skinned with Huawei’s EMUI 4.1, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, NFC and USB Type-C connectivity. There is a 3000mAh battery that hopefully will give the handset even better battery life than the Huawei P8 and last, and a fingerprint sensor on the back. Definitely a big upgrade from last year’s Huawei P8 Lite.
