According to a recent survey, the aspect of a smartphone that Chinese users value the most is the phone’s memory; more specifically the device’s RAM and storage. And it looks like Xiaomi has realized that as the company has released an improved version of the Redmi 2A which now features more RAM and storage.
The new smartphones was announced by the company’s CEO through his Weibo account. Instead of featuring 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, the new Redmi 2A will now come with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage which is twice as much as before.
The rest of the new Redmi 2A’s specifications are the same including the 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 2200mAh battery, 4G LTE connectivity, dual SIM dual standby support, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.
With the release of this new Redmi 2A, Xiaomi has officially moved on from smartphones with only 1GB of RAM. Now all of Xiaomi’s new smartphones have a minimum of 2GB of RAM.
The new Redmi 2A will cost 549 Yuan which is 50 Yuan more expensive than the original Redmi 2A but we think the higher price tag is well worth it considering it has twice the RAM and storage.[source]
