Yesterday, we reported that US Mobile had entered partnerships with Chinese smartphone manufacturers Xiaomi and Meizu but it looks like only half of that story may have been correct as Xiaomi has come out to say that it has not entered a partnership with US Mobile and that the carrier is not an authorized dealer of Xiaomi products.
Xiaomi sent an official statement to GSMArena.com stating that while the company does offer a small selection of its accessories to the US market through its Mi.com website the company has no plans to sell smartphones in the US whether directly or through authorized distributors. Here is the company’s full statement:
“Xiaomi only offers a small selection of accessories for sale in the US through Mi.com. There are no plans to sell smartphones through any authorized distributors in the US. US Mobile is not authorized to sell Xiaomi products in the US.”
It looks like US-based Xiaomi fans will still have to settle with getting no official support or warranties for their Xiaomi devices whether they purchase them from unauthorized third part resellers or suppliers or whether they import them from abroad.[source]
