Rooting Android 4.0. and 4.1
XDA users Bin4ry developed a script to root the new generation of Android tablets and phones. Here's a link to the file you need to root your device.
The process is quite simple. You download the file. Extract the archive. Finally you run the file named RunMe.bat, you just follow the instructions after that. Here's a list of compatible devices according to the author:
Confirmed devices:
Sony Xperia : S, T, P , Acro S, Ion , Tipo , Tablet S, Go, Sola, U
Google: Nexus 7 [UK Firmware]
XTouch: X401
Jiayu G2-S
LG: P705 thanks mariolcneto, P7510 t
HTC: One S thanks sebagsm, Sensation XL [ICS 4.03] thanks Koate
Kyocera: Rise & Hydro
Samsung: Galaxy S2
Ainol: Novo 7 Tornado 7 t
Prestigio: MultiPad PMP5197D 9.7 ULTRA
HDC: I9300 S3 clone

If you want to read some detailed comments on the process here's the authors original post .
As always, if you don't know what you are doing, then you shouldn't dabble in rooting your device.
