The U6 dual-screen smartphone from Oukitel was originally set to feature MediaTek’s upcoming Helio X20 processor but it looks like the company has decided to release a lower-specced version of the device while waiting for MediaTek’s new processor. The Oukitel U6 will now feature a MediaTek MT6735M quad-core chipset instead and will now be available for international pre-order.
The main feature of the Oukitel U6 is its two displays – a 5-inch 720p HD display at the front and a 4.7-inch qHD E-ink display at the rear of the device. The rear E-ink display is similar to the one found on the YotaPhone 2 and features 16-level grey scale and a pixel density of 235ppi.
Aside from its MediaTek MT6735 64-bit 1.3GHz quad-core processor and dual displays, the Oukitel U6 will feature 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and a 2000mAh battery. It also supports 4G LTE connectivity and dual SIM dual standby.
As for the Oukitel U6 that will feature the upcoming Helio X20 processer, the company has decided to rename it to the Oukitel U6 Pro and delay it to next year when the Helio X20 will already be available.
As previously mentioned, this first version of the Oukitel U6 is already available for international pre-order at several online retailers and will start shipping sometime in September. It will be priced at an SRP of $239.99 but the company has mentioned that discounts will be given during the pre-order period. Buy from gearbest[source]
