With the official unveiling of the OnePlus X drawing near, more and more information on the upcoming smartphone has leaked online with the most recent bit of information revealing that the OnePlus X will feature a Snapdragon 801 CPU but not the one that most people are familiar with.
According to the leak, the Snapdragon 801 processor that will be present in the OnePlus X won’t be the more common MSM8974AC but will instead be the MSM8974PRO-AA which is a lower clocked version of the processor with a CPU and GPU frequency of 450MHz and 320MHz, respectively, compared to the 578MHz and 465MHz of the former processor which was previously found on the OnePlus One.
Aside from the Snapdragon 801 processor, the OnePlus X will also be equipped with dual 2.5D arc curved glass panels placed on the front and rear of the device.
The company has positioned the OnePlus X as a “light flagship” and is expected to be priced at around 1699 Yuan. It will be the second device the company will be releasing this year after their flagship OnePlus Two, something that the company has never done before. The decision to release a budget handset could reveal the current mindset of the company and their vision going forward.
