HTC Bolt will be the first non-Google device running Nougat

Google just announced its latest and greatest devices, the Pixel and Pixel XL. All the Google-branded devices are the first to receive the latest Android OS. As for the rest of the manufacturers, things aren’t so fast. This is likely to change with the -still unannounced- HTC Bolt that we saw in September. The release will probably take place later this month in the US, and it looks like it will become HTC’s first handset to run Android Nougat out of the box. Usually, manufacturers release new devices with the previous Android Version, in this case the Android 6. But HTC seems to work fast this time.

HTC Bolt

According to HTC ROM developer LlabTooFeR, the Bolt will run Android Nougat with Sense 8 UI. Reportedly, the Bolt’s codename is HTC Acadia, and isn’t a US-exclusive device. Europe, Asia and Africa should get it, too. Can this be the start of an even faster update schedule? We’ll see.

It is said that Sprint is getting ready to sell the HTC Bolt in the US (possibly starting the coming weeks). For the time being, there is no info on the features of the Bolt, but the device certainly resembles the HTC 10. Having a relatively similar metal body, plus a fingerprint scanner on the front. There’s a quite big camera on the back, alongside a dual LED flash for it, but it seems that laser auto focus isn’t on board.

As soon as more information emerge, we will keep you posted.
