HDC Galaxys S5 Legend Spec Review
HDC Galaxys S5 Legend Spec Review

The HDC Galaxys S5 is a true Galaxy S5 alternative. It has some great specs, including an Octa core processor running at 1.7GHz, a real 5.1 inch FHD screen with a full HD resolution, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of expandable storage, support for 4 way gesture control, an inbuilt finger scanner, gesture recognition, 16 megapixel camera and more. Read on for a spec review of the HDC Galaxys S5.

If you are looking for a good Samsung S5 alternative but don’t want to pay full price, the HDC Galaxys S5 might be the one for you. When it comes to China Android devices, this one is a step above the rest. Its specifications rival that of mainstream high end smartphones. A high resolution screen and camera make this device truly comparable to the S5, as well as features like a finger print scanner.

Main specs include:

Android 4.4.2
MTK6592 Octa Core Processor
Google Play
5.1 Inch Full HD 1920 x 1080
16 Million Colours
16 Megapixel Rear Camera
2 Megapixel Front Camera
In Built GPS Chipset
16GB Expandable Storage
USB 3.0

The display on the HDC Galaxys S5 is excellent, supporting 16 million colours and with a resolution of 1920x1080. This is a full high definition display, making videos and images look crisp and clear, while also fitting more on the screen. At 5 inches, the screen is the perfect size for entertainment and productivity on the go. It also features multitouch technology that is responsive and works well with the Android 4.4.2 OS.

The HDC Galaxys S5 has an epic 16 megapixel rear camera. This is quite a high megapixel value, making for excellent photos and video recordings. A front camera of 2 megapixels is also included in the package. The front camera is on the low end when it comes to megapixel value, but it does the job. Both the front and rear camera support digital zoom and come with an array of customisation options thanks to the Android OS and Google Play apps.

The image below was taken with the 16 megapixel camera.

The HDC Galaxys S5 is not a 4G device, but does make use of GSM and WCDMA, so data connectivity is possible. Bluetooth connectivity will keep you connected to bluetooth accessories, while wireless will keep you connected to your local Wifi network. Unfortunately, the HDC Galaxys S5 does not support wireless N technology, but instead uses wireless B and G technology. This is a bit slower than the standard of smartphones today, but the S5 is still capable of fast web browsing and video streaming. When it comes to HD streaming, wireless N would be preferable though. Its USB 3 connectivity makes syncing a breeze and faster than the standard USB 2.0.

The Galaxys S5 has an epic octa core processor running at 1.7GHz. When in combination with 2GB of RAM, the device runs quickly, smoothly and is very capable of multitasking. With the updated Android 4 OS, the device runs great. It is very much able to handle the extra features of the newest Android OS and will most likely be able to handle future updates for some time.

Other Features
The Galaxys S5 also has 16GB of inbuilt storage and supports video files including AVI, MP4, 3GP, MOV, MKV and FLV as well as audio files including FLAC, APE, MP3, OGG, AMR and AAC. It has downloadable ring tones, supports SMS, MMS and email, is able to store 1000 phone contacts, browse the web with HTML support, has access to the Google Play store and even has a built in GPS chipset for getting around.

One flaw of the device would be that the device OS shows it has 64GB of storage and 4GB of ROM. This is not the case, as it has 16GB of storage and 2GB of ram. This is likely due to the manufacturing process but is unlikely to become an issue.

Battery Life
With a 2800mAh battery, you can expect around 150-200 hours of standby time. This is great for a smartphone and will give you flexibility when it comes to portability and charging.

With a 5 inch screen, the Galaxys S5 is slightly bigger than the average smartphone. However, it maintains a slim profile with a depth of only 8.7mm. The overall dimensions are 142.7mm x 72.5mm x 8.7mm. At a weight of 151g, this is a lightweight and well sized smartphone, similar to the Samsung S5.

Verdict and Price
For a device with such high specifications you would normally expect a high price range. The Galaxys S5 is actually rather cheap, available for around $209. The Galaxys S5 is a great smartphone for those looking for a Samsung S5 alternative but are not willing to pay the big bucks. This smartphone has heaps of high end specs that make it easily comparable. The screen is wonderful and access to the Google Play store is always a bonus when it comes to Chinese Android phones.
